RESEARCH
My research spans Early Modern literature, women's writing, archival materials, and the relationship between literary and material culture. My work has included original archival research at Columbia University's Rare Book & Manuscript Library, editorial research for the Norton Anthology of English Literature, and research on John Milton's Paradise Regained.

Conducted original research on ten 17th-century manuscripts from the Belayse family library, including transcription, historical contextualization, and research into previously unpublished poetry. The project resulted in Commonplaces of a Common Name: A Curious Collection of Ten 17th-Century Manuscripts from the Belayse Family Library, published internally by the Rare Book & Manuscript Library.

ABOUT EVAN REED BUTLER
I am a writer and researcher based in New York. I hold an M.A. in English & Comparative Literature from Columbia University and a B.A. in English Literature from Hunter College. My academic work has appeared in the Virginia Woolf Bulletin and includes original archival research conducted at Columbia University's Rare Book & Manuscript Library.
Outside of academia, I work in fine and vintage jewelry, where my work encompasses research, writing, brand communications, and the history and material culture of jewelry.
